JKA Migenkan Chief Instructor: Bio Aikawa Sensei
Bio Sensei was born in Japan and moved to Canada as a student. She started the practice of JKA Shōtōkan Karate in 1998 in Canada. She currently holds a GO DAN (5th degree black belt) certified by Japan Karate Association (JKA).
Bio Sensei has been an instructor at Ottawa Shōtōkan Karate-Dō (OSKD) over the last 20 years and holds JKA qualifications as official instructor, examiner and judge. She has been actively participating in local, regional and national events all her Karate-life as a competitor, an official, or an organizer. In recent years, she has been placing more emphasis in engaging local communities to support children’s growth and development through learning the principles found in the traditional Japanese culture.
Bio Sensei has also provided a significant contribution to the national organization, the JKA Shōtōkan Karate-Dō World Organization of Canada (JKA-SKD Canada) over 10 years, as an active member of the Board of Directors. She served as the Secretary for the organization for half of her serving time, implementing various policies and supporting member Dojos across Canada.
